The Road Transport Department (JPJ) today announced that it is introducing a new channel for road users in Malaysia to bid for plate numbers, which is in the form of yet another app. Called the JPJeBID Mobile, its pilot test phase will officially start tomorrow (18 February).

Taking to its official Facebook page, JPJ said that the app will use the latest technology to ensure a more robust and efficient platform, addressing the limited accessibility issues of the existing JPJeBid system. Accordingly, the department will conduct an online survey starting tomorrow via users’ JPJeBid inboxes in phases to ensure the app Mobile provides an efficient and effective service.

The JPJeBid Mobile app is touted to feature several new features, including a user-friendly interface, improved navigation, notifications and personalisation options. Rather confusingly, there's already a JPJeBid app, which also uses the JPJeBid system, though this new app may eventually replace the JPJeBid app.

JPJ added that during the pilot test period, the existing bidding channels, the JPJeBid portal (https://jpjebid.jpj.gov.my/ebid/) and the JPJeBid app will remain operational as usual. As for the JPJeBid Mobile app, it is now available for download via the Apple AppStore, Google PlayStore, or Huawei AppGallery. Users can log in using their existing JPJeBid account.
