Social media platforms can be tricky to keep up with. Normally, people apply for jobs via job listing platforms such as Jobstreet, LinkedIn, and so forth. But now, you might land your next career via Twitter.

That’s right. You didn’t read it wrong. According to Kristi Hines, the bird app is close to officially launching new features that cater for job listings. This allows Verified Organisations to post job listings on Twitter profiles.

Some Verified Organisations have already posted job listings. As shown in the image below, the employer has listed the job listings on their profile. The link will lead applicants to the vacant position on the company website or other job network.

On top of that, Twitter has created an official @TwitterHiring account. Twitter’s @verified also sent a public invite to more companies to encourage sign-ups for Verified Organisations. The Verified Organisations subscription allows companies to customise job listing posts, items for sale, and so forth.

If this becomes a reality, we could see a rise in Twitter’s revenue and user engagement. Naturally, it could rival LinkedIn, which currently attracts over 52 million job seekers. Twitter could charge companies at least $1000 monthly for the Verified Organisations subscription.

Hiring companies in Malaysia could capitalise on the platform’s widespread usage. It could also attract candidates from different geographical locations and professional backgrounds. Plus, Twitter’s retweet function could increase the visibility of job listings. The hashtags used in posts could help individuals find job posts relevant to their interests or expertise.

However, Twitter is infamous for being a casual and silly social media platform. It would be unfair for employees to miss out on opportunities because of the jokes or the content retweeted. After all, the Internet is where you go to relax and unwind.
