The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) has revealed that over 220,000 or up to 60 per cent of tablets under the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia programme have been distributed to students nationwide. Overall, K-KOMM has received 470,000 applications and approximately 350,000 have been approved.

As reported by Bernama, K-KOMM has been distributing PerantiSiswa tablets to approved applicants for about two months, with the remaining eligible applicants set to get theirs soon too. In Sarawak, a total of 22,256 applications have been received and 16,505 or 70 per cent of the tablets have been distributed to eligible students in the state.

Yesterday, 25 students in Selangau, Sarawak received their PerantiSiswa tablets directly from caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during the opening of the Selangau section of the Pan Borneo Highway project. About 400 students later received their tablets during a meeting with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg together with the recipients of the Sarawak state government scholarships at Universiti Teknologi Sarawak in Sibu.
