K-KOMM to announce new initiatives to improve Malaysia’s broadband services soon

The Minister of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM), Tan Sri Annuar Musa has recently revealed that new initiatives are currently in the works by his ministry to improve our country’s broadband services. Furthermore, Annuar revealed that the initiatives will be announced by him soon.

Taking to his official social media accounts following a visit to Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) yesterday, no further details were given on the upcoming initiatives. However, given that the statement was asserted following a visit to DNB, the initiatives may potentially be in regards to 5G connectivity in Malaysia.

Speaking of which, the K-KOMM Minister shared that he has been regularly visiting DNB to get an update on the status of implementing 5G connectivity in Malaysia. Annuar said that the visits are to ensure that everything is in order and according to schedule.

DNB is a special purpose vehicle of Malaysia owned by the Finance Ministry and regulated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Established in March 2021, DNB is currently in talks with major telco service providers in Malaysia for a 5G service agreement which due date is set for tomorrow, 30 June 2022.
