The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) is set to announce good news regarding telecommunications to help reduce the impact of rising living costs, especially for the B40 and M40 groups in Malaysia before Christmas. Its Minister, Fahmi Fadzil said that the good news would revolve around internet prices and phone charges in our country.

As reported by Bernama, Fahmi asserted that his ministry is looking at the issues of internet and phone charges and teased how ‘Santa Claus’ will be coming soon to deliver some good news. Moreover, KKD will also emphasise on improving connectivity and access, which he said is far more important.

Fahmi further elaborated that numerous calls have been made by the public social media for several matters to be scrutinised, especially in terms of costs and quality of service. In terms of connectivity, he clarified that some areas were facing service problems because not all mobile network operators (MNOs) were operating in said area.

The KKD Minister revealed that a study has been done so that immediate and appropriate measures can be taken to help the people both in terms of price and quality of service. KKD is also concerned about the issues involving 4G and 5G networks, with Fahmi stressing that the people “don’t only want cheaper services” but also “better services as well”.
