KKD Minister: Malaysia to establish a Cyber Security Commission

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has announced that the government is planning to set up the Malaysian Cyber Security Commission. Its Minister, Fahmi Fadzil said that the commission is part of efforts to strengthen cyber security in our country. 

According to Bernama, Fahmi said that his ministry will cooperate with relevant agencies such as CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) in setting up the commission. Besides that, the KKD Minister also revealed that several amendments affecting KKD agencies would be tabled in the coming Dewan Rakyat session beginning this 13 February. 

The agencies include the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP), National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Fahmi further elaborated that the amendments would strengthen the agencies as there is no point in having data if it is not safe.
