The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has instructed local telecommunications companies to install generators in flood hotspot areas. This is following the flash floods that have severely affected some parts of Malaysia.

According to Bernama, KKD Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching said that the directive was aimed at preventing the affected areas from experiencing communication service disruptions. Furthermore, the ministry will also work with the telco companies and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to ensure no telco services are interrupted.

Speaking at a temporary evacuation centre at the SRJK Cina Bukit Batu in Kulai yesterday, Nie Ching asserted that KKD had asked telco companies to improve the hardening of their telecommunication towers. They were also told to relocate the towers to higher areas so that services are not interrupted during floods.
