Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) today announced that the Aerotrain Replacement Project at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be completed earlier than scheduled. In a statement, it was revealed that the project is slated to be completed by 31 January 2025.
According to Bernama, MAHB clarified that this expedited timeline was finalised through a contract signed on 14 June between Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd (MA Sepang) and a joint venture consisting of IJM Construction Sdn Bhd and Pestech Technology Sdn Bhd (IJMC-Pestech JV). For reference, MA Sepang is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MAHB and Alstom Transport Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Alstom).
As such, the new timeline advances the original completion date of 31 March 2025 by 2 months. Moreover, according to the project’s timeline, the new aerotrains are expected to arrive in Malaysia from China by the end of Q3 2024.
