The Penang Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has raided two entertainment premises in the state. The raid was made following a complaint from the representative of the copyright owner despite repeated warnings. So, what should you know about it?

In addition, the raid was also accompanied by eight representatives of the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM). They found the two entertainment premises were suspected of committing copyright infringement against works registered and used without permission for commercial purposes under the Copyright Act 1987.

Moreover, the premises is a licensed entertainment center that provides karaoke services. Accordingly, KPDN reminds all parties who use any copyright work for business activities to seek approval from the copyright owner or strict action will be taken if the work is found to be pirated.
