KTMB is offering a new direct train service between Penang and Hat Yai at just RM45

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced the launch of a special direct train service between Butterworth, Penang, and Hat Yai, Thailand. Called the special MySawasdee Penang Edition train service, read on to learn more. 

According to Bernama, the special train service will operate as a trial route from 29 December 2024 until 5 January 2025. KTMB added that the trial route is designed to evaluate user demand and response to the special train service, with plans for future services to key locations on the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) network.

Furthermore, the service offers a one-way fare of RM45 and will make stops at several major stations in the northern Peninsular Malaysia. These include Bukit Mertajam, Sungai Petani, Alor Setar, Arau, and Padang Besar.

For those interested, tickets will be on sale starting tomorrow (23 December) at 10am. The departure from Butterworth is scheduled for 7.40 am, arriving in Hat Yai at approximately 12.05 pm (local time). The scheduled departure from Hat Yai is at 3 pm (local time), with arrival in Butterworth at 9.46 pm.
