Today, LG Electronics has announced it will officially end support for all mobile software upgrade services. It will begin effectively on 30 June 2025, marking the final phase of LG's exit from the smartphone market.

All LG mobile devices will be affected by this termination, which includes the Mobile Phone Software Upgrade (FOTA), Update Centre (Application Service) and LG Bridge (PC Tool). This pretty much nails the coffin of the smartphone division, following the company's 2021 decision to shut down its mobile phone business.

After this date, users will no longer have access to any software upgrade services. Additionally, users will not be able to download default applications if they were deleted during device initialisation, as application updates will no longer be provided. LG recommends that customers perform any necessary software upgrades prior to the termination date.

LG emphasized that all personal information collected for the above services will be erased immediately following service termination. However, data required to be retained under applicable laws or internal policies will be stored for the duration specified by those regulations.
