According to leaks from trusted sources this week, we may have a good idea of Apple’s boldest iPhone roadmap to date. The leaks are reinforced by internal claims by Apple hardware chief John Ternus, embarking on "the most ambitious" iPhone development cycle.

Backed up by Wayne Ma and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's reports as reputable sources, Apple plans to dramatically expand its iPhone lineup across 2026 and 2027, which we reported before. This includes the introduction of its first foldable iPhone, alongside the pro variants and the launch of new spring product cycles for the non-pro models.

For this year, we will be seeing the usual four-model lineup of the iPhone 17 series, except that the anticipated iPhone 17 Air will replace the Plus variant. Then in 2026 and 2027, here's what Apple might be planning to do:

2026

  • iPhone 17e in the spring
  • iPhone 18 series launch in fall, which includes the iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro (with under-display Face ID), iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone 18 Fold

2027

  • iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in the spring season
  • iPhone 19 series next in fall, with the iPhone 19 Air (with a larger display), iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max (front camera cutout may disappear) and the 2nd-Gen foldable iPhone

If these leaks hold true, the next few years will mark a transformative era in Apple’s smartphone strategy. The company appears to be shifting toward splitting the launches between spring and fall to maintain year-round momentum and consumer interest. In this case, the annual WWDC and Apple Events that would happen in June and September, respectively, every year.

There's still a long way to go, but what do you think of this potential new split launching for the future iPhone series? Until then, let's just wait and see how it goes. Stay tuned for more trending tech news only at TechNave.com.
