When Huawei revealed its first tri-fold device (Mate XT Ultimate) earlier this year, we were wondering if other companies would soon follow suit. While the flood of tri-fold smartphones hasn't happened, some companies have hinted at upcoming releases. In fact, sources claim that Tecno could soon showcase one such device.
Tecno Phantom Ultimate G revealed
Tecno's upcoming tri-fold is based on the Phantom Ultimate G concept unveiled at MWC 2025. According to GSMArena, the foldable will be unveiled in mid-July. However, Tecno will not be launching it because it's not ready for mass production. The reason was not mentioned, but Tecno could still be working on finalising the specs, design, or costing for the phone.
However, there are some live photos (via GSMArena | Ice Universe) of the Tecno's tri-fold phone. Unlike Huawei's Mate XT, the Phantom Ultimate G folds inwards on its two hinges. This design keeps the screen protected when the phone is folded, making it better at preventing accidental scratches. The leaked photos also reveal three rear cameras at the back, arranged in a horizontal layout.
No launch or release dates yet
Tecno is a brand with some popularity in Malaysia, so it would be great to see the company officially release this device here. It would be even better if it's launched at a more affordable price, but don't expect these to be cheap.
