If you heard the word Leica, it would most probably remind you of the brand's association with Huawei. However, Leica has decided to make its own smartphones called the Leitz Phone 1. We don't think it will be launched globally as it's a Softbank exclusive in Japan but let's see what tech specs it has.

According to sources, the Leitz Phone 1 is a better version of the Sharp Aquos R6 in disguise but the design is vastly different and heavy. The phone weighs a thick metallic body at 9.5mm and 212g because of how big the camera module bump. Measuring at 1-inch, Leica is providing a silver hard casing to protect the 20MP main sensor from scratches.

On the front, it features a 6.6-inch IGZO OLED display and houses a 12.6MP front camera as well as supporting up to a 240Hz variable refresh rate. The tech specs inside aren't a pushover either, sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (expandable up to 1TB via microSD card). It's also IP68 dust and water-resistant rated and the battery is quite big at 5000mAh.

In Japanese Yen, the Leitz Phone 1 costs 187,920 Yen which is roughly around ~RM7028. Yup, that's one expensive camera-centric smartphone but what do you think? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
