A few days ago, a tweet by @RODENT950 was posted claiming that the upcoming Huawei P50 series could be the last smartphone lineup using Leica lenses. The original poster also claimed that Leica is currently looking for a new manufacturer such as HONOR, Xiaomi or even Sharp.

While the candidates do seem promising, he also posted another tweet with just "Xiaomi + Leica" hinting that it's a possible collaboration. With the news going on, it didn't take long for Leica to respond to the rumours. Below is the official statement from the camera company:

"The trustful and long-term technology partnership with the Huawei Consumer Business Group exists since 2015. Since the beginning the partnership brings huge value to consumers as well as to both companies. As the cooperation still continues, the associated compliance with all confidentialities is of course preserved. The partners have agreed to secrecy about any details of the contract. Please understand that we will not be commenting on this."

We can only wait and see what becomes of Huawei and Leica's partnership when the P50 series allegedly launches in early June. Until then, do take this news with a grain of salt and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
