Recently, news of a Lenovo handheld gaming device started surfacing. Dubbed the Lenovo Legion Go, it was believed the handheld would use a less powerful chip (compared to the ASUS ROG Ally) to reduce power consumption. But new leaks suggest this might not be the case.

According to Windows Latest, leaked benchmarks have revealed the tech specs for the Lenovo Legion Go. The handheld gaming device will feature AMD's Ryzen Z1 series chips, the same series that powers the ROG Ally. Based on the benchmarks, there should be two variants of the Legion Go. One has the standard Ryzen Z1 chip (6-core CPU), and the other packs the Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip (8-core CPU).

In addition, the two variants will have 16GB of RAM, AMD Radeon Graphics, and a display with 2560x1600 resolution. That display is expected to be an 8-inch AMOLED panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio. There are also two options for storage: 256GB and 512 GB. Lastly, the leaks showed that the Legion Go would be set to Balanced power mode. It also has a power slider to set the device to "Best Performance" or "Better Battery".

So, it looks like Lenovo is developing a device comparable to the ROG Ally. However, the source claimed that AMD has since adjusted the Ryzen Z1 series chips, improving the power and voltage curve. These changes could result in better battery life for any device with these chips, including the ROG Ally.

We won't know if the changes are effective until we test the Lenovo Legion Go. Hopefully, Lenovo Malaysia will release this device here in the future. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news and leave us a comment below.
