We have talked about Lenovo's first transparent laptop before and it's finally revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. Currently, it's dubbed Project Crystal and as what previous reports suggest, it has a transparent display that you can see through.

It's not just the transparent display but the keyboard is also using a glass-top surface. According to the media who saw the laptop there, a transparent micro-LED screen is "sandwiched" between the two Gorilla Glass panes. This is why seeing the content through the glass is possible, even if someone is behind it.

Despite the sharpness, the resolution is surprisingly just 720p and the transparency is 55%. There is also a large non-physical trackpad and the laptop can be used like a regular Windows device. Also, the display is not touchscreen supported and to protect privacy, an opacity layer will be added to the back.

In addition, Lenovo also mentioned that there is a rear acmera at the back of the laptop. It is equipped with an Intel AI function that can analyse the object to turn it into an augment reality image onto the transparent display. It requires a WiFi network to work so unfortunately, they couldn't do the demo on the spot.

Lenovo confirmed that the laptop is not ready for commercial release so don't expect to see this new tech in the market anytime soon. But what do you think of the trasparent laptop? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more MWC news.
