By now, most of you know about the bizarre LoFi Girl livestream video incident. For the uninitiated, the 'lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to' has been taken down due to a copyright strike by a local music production company - FMC Music Sdn Bhd Malaysia. YouTube has rectified the issue and the LoFi Girl's video is now back online.

As a beloved background music tune for the netizens around the world, it was understandable that the local company got under fire and its social media pages got attacked mercilessly. To clear the 'misunderstanding', a spokesman for the record label told Malaysiakini.com that hackers were to blame for this fiasco.

According to the statement, FMC Music's YouTube account got hacked during the long weekend and nobody was in the office. It was reported that the team only found out 'this morning' (presumably yesterday) when they got to the office and realized about the hacking and copyright claim.

The spokesperson also said that the team has reported this to Google and hopes to work things out. In response to the fans, the spokesperson also said FMC Music has no reason to strike a copyright claim as the Malay music has no relation to the LoFi girl genre.
