Bernama quoted Loke as saying that the directive aims to enhance safety measures across the LRT system, especially at stations with older designs that currently lack the safety feature. He added that the platform doors act as a barrier between passengers and the train tracks.

The Transport Minister noted that platform doors are already in place at MRT stations, but there are a few LRT stations that have yet to be fitted with the safety feature.
