While we are still waiting for 5G, the Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) just recently announced a new partnership with Maxis. The collaboration between the two will transform the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) into a 5G hub centre.
According to MAHB, Maxis will be focusing on the WiFi and 5G network services and solution to the terminals of KLIA. The airport retailers believe that with Maxis' smart WiFi infrastructure, the technology can help them understand consumer behaviour and "provide insights to capitalise on omnichannel marketing and ensure a seamless sales experience".
On top of that, MAHB Group CEO Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said that the 5G technology should be able to elevate and transform KLIA into a smart airport. With that said, we should be seeing some more developed smart retail, smart travel and tourism by both MAHB and Maxis.
No date has been given to when we can expect a fully functional 5G airport but are you excited about it? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
