The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) today revealed that it has converted 53,000 scratch-and-display parking coupons to e-coupons as of yesterday (12 April 2022). The exchange was done through the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) mobile application, involving approximately RM35,000 worth of transactions.

This was after the Selangor state government announced that all scratch-and-display parking coupon holders must register as SSP users to transfer the value of their vouchers into e-coupons inside the app. Residents can do so starting 26 March 2022 with no end date being announced just yet.

Shah Alam mayor Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor commented that the move to make parking payments digital has been well-received by the public. However, there are still some residents that still use scratch-and-display parking coupons to pay for parking.

As reported by Selangor Journal, the state of Selangor had gone fully digital for parking payments via the SSP app since 1 April. The app is available for download via the Google Play Store, Apple App Store as well as the Huawei Store.
