Today, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) just announced that the free 1GB Internet data will continue until 31 July 2021. As usual, the five telco companies - Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Telekom Malaysia have agreed to extend the provision of this daily Internet data for education purpose.

Originally, the free 1GB was supposed to end today (30 April). The initiative is to help Malaysians all across the country to cope by going online during this pandemic period. This is particularly more helpful for school students transitioning back to Home Teaching and Learning after Aidilfitri as announced by the Ministry of Education recently.

As a reminder, the free 1GB is applicable for going to online meetings as well as managing teaching materials via email all day without any restrictions. If you want to use it for surfing on your social media, streaming videos and music, or playing mobile games online, it won't be eligible.

The Malaysian telcos have been providing 1GB of free data daily since April last year so that marks it as our first anniversary. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
