Recently, the nation was shocked by an incident where a six-year-old child was stabbed by his nine-year-old brother because the older child's smart device was damaged by his younger sibling. Due to this incident, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has issued a statement that they are researching the best mechanism that can be used to regulate online games for children.

No decision as of now

Moreover, Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said that the MCMC is discussing this matter, but a decision on it has not yet been made. Amendments may be made to the Online Safety Act 2025, which will be introduced next year, to further enhance safety laws for children.

He also said that the government is considering the introduction of operating licenses for 10 online games, including Roblox, so that game operators can have their operations regulated to ensure that they operate under local laws.

Meanwhile, he also said that his children have been instructed to uninstall the Roblox application from their smart devices and forbid them from playing the game.
