The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has officially launched PRIME, short for Sistem Komunikasi Radio dan Internet Bersepadu Bergerak. It’s a mobile communication and internet system designed to boost emergency response efforts during disasters.

So, what does it actually do? In the event of natural disasters like floods, landslides, or any situation where normal communications go down, PRIME provides mobile radio and internet access to ensure responders can still coordinate and communicate effectively.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Communications’ broader strategy to strengthen the country’s disaster preparedness. With PRIME, emergency services, government agencies, and support teams can stay connected—even in remote or badly affected areas where infrastructure may be damaged.

Why PRIME Matters:

  • It’s portable and can be quickly deployed in emergencies
  • Keeps communication lines open for first responders and authorities
  • Ensures better coordination in high-risk or hard-to-reach areas
  • Supports faster, more efficient disaster relief efforts

It’s reassuring to see Malaysia taking proactive steps with tech like PRIME. When disaster strikes, staying connected can make a huge difference—and this system is built to do exactly that. Here’s to smarter, faster, and more effective emergency responses in the future.
