
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has taken down 8756 pieces of cyberbullying-related content over the past year. That said, what should you know about it?
For your information, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said the figure showed a significant increase compared to the previous year, with 1,763 pieces of content taken down. She also added:
“We all need to be more careful and wise in using digital platforms and always maintain ethics in communicating... Cyberbullying can have a very negative impact on victims and we all have a role to play in creating a safer, positive and harmonious digital environment.”
In another development, Teo said he had asked MCMC to continue to work with relevant government agencies to identify new locations for Orang Asli settlements and traditional villages that still face telecommunications access problems to be listed in future project planning.
He said his party would continue to ensure that every Malaysian enjoyed access to good telecommunications and Internet services, whether in urban or rural areas, including Orang Asli villages.
