The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is now informing all users, stating that from 1 September 2024, the ban on some types of content via SMS will be enforced. This prohibited content includes links, requests for personal information, and even phone numbers to contact. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, MCMC stated that this change and enforcement is in an effort to protect users from the risk of fraud through SMS, which is often exploited by criminals. SKMM also urges us to always be alert to SMS that contain such prohibited content. If you still receive such SMS, you can submit a complaint to SKMM through the official website.

In addition to SMS, SKMM also emphasizes the importance of being alert to similar messages sent through other communication mediums such as RCS, Apple iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram and so on.
