Today, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) held their first ever eSports tournament - The ASUS ROG Champions Cup Finals featuring two finalists Missing in Action (MIA) and Raiding Squad (RS) in a best-of-five format competing each other in League of Legends, the hottest eSports game globally at the moment. At first, MIA lost their first game against RS but made a steady come back which eventually got them snatching the win (3-1 score) with several entertaining combat engagement and strategies. MIA walked away with a total prize pool of RM60000 with a ROG laptop each.
The tournament was announced as a surprise two months ago, also marking the first ever e-Sports tournament to be held publicly in Malaysia. 177 teams from all over Malaysia faced off in fierce battles through qualifier rounds hosted at various cyber cafes nationwide and eventually here in the Ice Rink @ Sunway Pyramid.
