According to BERNAMA, MITI is now sharing that it has established cooperation with the state governments of Selangor and Johor. This is done to ensure that each district has facilities for DC charging for electric vehicles. This move is also expected to be in line with the government's target to reach 10000 EV charging stations by 2025.
Currently, there are around 500 DC chargers in Malaysia, and it is targeted for the number to reach 1500 by 2025. At the same time, it was also shared that as of September 30, 2024, there are 33319 electrified vehicles. Plus, there are 3354 charging compartments that have been installed until October 31, 2024.
We have yet to confirm other details on the news. Hopefully, everything will proceed smoothly. After all, EV users in Malaysia deserve better.
