MIUI 14, the latest version of Xiaomi’s Android-based software for its devices may end up being its last one with the MIUI name too. This is because the company is reportedly rebranding the software with another name and approach.

According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, MIUI 14 will be the last official version of MIUI by Xiaomi. The company’s skin on top of Android has been a staple in the tech industry, powering Xiaomi and its sub-brands Redmi, POCO and Blackshark for the past 13 years.

While Digital Chat Station didn’t reveal why Xiaomi is rebranding MIUI, it is likely that the alleged approach is being taken to not be fully reliant on Google-based services. Instead, Xiaomi wants to push its own services, such as HUAWEI’s approach after being banned from using Google services.

As such would also safeguard Xiaomi should the ban also be enforced on the company as China and US relations continue to deteriorate. Of course, do take this with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet.

So, should MIUI be rebranded, what name do you think best fit the software? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more trending tech news such as this.
