The new Nintendo Switch 2 is definitely one of the most exciting products this year. But if you hate Nintendo's exorbitant game prices, a Windows-powered model like the MSI Claw A8 could be a better option. The MSI handheld was recently released in China, so what does it offer?
Tech specs and features
The MSI Claw A8, first revealed at Computex 2025, features an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. It also has up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM (dual-channel 8000MHz) and 1TB of NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD storage. The storage is also upgradeable. Just open the back cover, remove the existing M.2 2280 SSD, and insert one with more storage capacity. For your info, M.2 SSDs can now go up to 4TB.
Additionally, the MSI Claw A8 sports Hall Effect analogue sticks and triggers. This means you won't get stick drift and the triggers will last much longer. For the display, it sports an 8-inch IPS touchscreen with a 1920x1200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and variable refresh rate (VRR). The Claw A8 also has WiFi-7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual 2W speakers, an 80Whr battery, and a 65W PD charging adapter.
Price and availability
The MSI Claw A8 is now out for pre-orders in China for RMB 6999 (~RM4125). We don't know when (or if) it will be available in Malaysia, but the MSI Claw A1M launched here last year so this one could too.
Would you buy one if it's released here? Let us know in the comments!
