Just right after the announcement of the M4 iMac yesterday, Apple decided to announce the new M4 and M4 Pro Mac mini. Starting at just RM2,499 with 16GB of memory, the new Mac mini is coming soon to Malaysia.
Compared with the predecessor, the new Mac mini is less than half the size at just 5x5 inches. It comes with an M4 and M4 Pro chipset with a 10-core CPU, and a 10-core GPU and starts with 16GB of unified memory. Also compared to the M1 Mac mini, the M4 Mac mini performs spreadsheet calculations up to 1.7x faster in Microsoft Excel, transcribes with on-device AI speed-to-text up to 2x faster in MacWhiper and merges panoramic images up to 4.9x faster in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
For users who want pro-level performance, the M4 Pro Mac mini features the world’s fastest CPU core with lightning-fast single-threaded performance. With up to 14 cores, including 10 performance and four efficiency cores, the M4 Pro also provides multithreaded performance. With up to 20 cores, the M4 Pro GPU is up to twice as powerful as the GPU in M4, and both chips bring hardware-accelerated ray tracing to the Mac mini for the first time. The Neural Engine in M4 Pro is also over 3x faster than in Mac mini with M1.
The M4 Pro Mac mini also supports up to 64GB of unified memory and 273GB/s of memory bandwidth for accelerating AI workloads. Additionally, Thunderbolt 5 is available on this model which delivers up to 120 Gb/s data transfer speeds and more than doubles the throughput of Thunderbolt 4. Speaking of ports, the Mac mini with M4 includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the Mac mini with M4 Pro features three Thunderbolt 5 ports.
Like other select Apple products, the new Mac mini will have Apple Intelligence features as well via the macOS Sequoia 15.1 software update. Below are the prices for each model:
