On the second day of the Apple Launch event, the company announced a new generation of its popular MacBook Air, now powered by the next-generation M5 chip. The pre-order will be available in Malaysia, but for now, here are the tech specs and features.
Performance and Storage Upgrades
The new MacBook Air with M5 delivers stronger performance across everyday productivity, creative and AI-enhanced tasks. Apple says the chip’s combination of faster CPU cores, next-generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, and expanded high-bandwidth memory results in substantial speed gains compared with prior models.

Apple has also doubled the base storage to 512GB with faster SSD performance, while optional configurations extend up to 4TB, the first time this capacity has been offered in an Air.
Design, Display and Connectivity
The refreshed Air maintains its iconic thin, light, and durable aluminium construction and includes a Liquid Retina display that delivers vivid visuals for creative work, media, and everyday use. The built-in 12MP Center Stage camera, enhanced audio system with Spatial Audio, and long battery life (up to 18 hours) support immersive experiences and all-day productivity.

For wireless performance, Apple’s custom N1 chip introduces support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, offering faster and more reliable connections on the go. The laptop also includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports that support up to two external displays, along with MagSafe charging for convenient power delivery.
macOS Tahoe and AI Enhancements
The MacBook Air ships with macOS Tahoe, which combines Apple Intelligence features with the M5’s computational capabilities for enhanced workflows and system-wide intelligence. This integration enables faster, more efficient on-device AI processing for tasks such as content creation, multimedia editing, and multitasking without constant cloud dependence.

Availability and Options

The new MacBook Air with M5 will be available in 13-inch and 15-inch models, starting from RM4699 and RM5499, respectively, and offered in a range of finishes including sky blue, midnight, starlight, and silver. There are also lower prices starting at RM4299 and RM5099 for education, respectively.
Pre-orders are said to begin soon, with availability in Apple Store locations and authorised resellers starting 11 March 2026. However, Apple Malaysia's website mentions checking back later for availability. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
