In today's Apple Launch, Apple announced a new lineup of MacBooks. This includes the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by its all-new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The refreshed laptops bring upgraded processing, storage, wireless connectivity, and enhanced pro-grade capabilities aimed at developers, creatives, and professionals.
Next-Generation M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips
The standout hardware upgrade is the introduction of the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, designed from the ground up with Apple’s latest Fusion Architecture. These next-generation Apple Silicon chips pair up to an 18-core CPU with multiple high-performance GPU cores( each equipped with a Neural Accelerator) and substantially higher unified memory bandwidth than previous generations.

According to Apple, this combination delivers up to four times faster AI performance compared to the previous MacBook Pro models and up to eight times faster than the original M1-based devices, enabling stronger on-device AI workflows without relying on external processing.
Faster Storage, Wireless, and Display
Alongside the new chips, the updated MacBook Pro lineup features faster SSD performance, with up to 2x read/write speeds to accelerate demanding tasks such as 4K and 8K video editing, large dataset handling, and model-based AI workflows. Starting storage has also been increased, with 1TB standard on M5 Pro models and 2TB on M5 Max models, giving users more space for large projects.

Wireless connectivity is enhanced with Apple’s custom N1 chip, which brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support for faster and more reliable networking. The laptops retain their immersive Liquid Retina XDR displays (with optional nano-texture finish), and offer up to 24 hours of battery life, helping users work longer between charges.
Pro-Level Features
Apple has packed the new MacBook Pro models with a broad set of features aimed at professional users. These include Thunderbolt 5 ports for high-speed data and display connectivity, a 12MP Center Stage camera for video calls, a studio-quality microphone array, and an immersive six-speaker sound system. Running on macOS Tahoe, the laptops also integrate Apple Intelligence features and pro workflows across apps used for coding, media production, and creative design.
