As previously teased by an Apple executive, the new MacBook Pro has been announced alongside the iPad Pro. Just like the latter, the new laptop is now powered by the brand-new Apple M5 chip, designed to perform the next generation of AI performance, graphics power, and energy efficiency. The starting price is RM6999, with a few variants to choose from.

The M5 MacBook Pro Tech Specs

At the core of the new MacBook Pro is the M5, Apple’s most advanced chip yet, built using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3-nanometer process. It features a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine that delivers 3.5× faster AI performance compared to M4 and faster than M1. Graphics rendering is up to 1.6× faster, with a 30 % boost in ray tracing for hyper-realistic visuals. CPU performance also improves by roughly 20 %, helping professionals compile code, model 3D scenes, or process large data sets with ease.

Thanks to Neural Accelerators embedded in every GPU core, the MacBook Pro can now handle real-time language model inference, AI video editing, and image generation directly on-device. Real-world testing shows massive gains: AI-enhanced video rendering in Topaz Video runs 7.7× faster, while Blender 3D rendering is 6.8× faster compared to the M1 generation. Even Xcode builds complete in nearly half the time, and gaming frame rates climb by over .

Beyond AI, the M5 pushes hardware limits across all areas. The SSD is now twice as fast, unified memory bandwidth reaches 150GB/s, and configurations support up to 4TB of storage. Battery efficiency is also greatly improved, offering up to 24 hours of use on a single charge.

Design, macOS Tahoe and Apple Intelligence

The 14-inch MacBook Pro retains its Liquid Retina XDR display, vivid mini-LED panel, and 12MP Center Stage camera. It continues to offer a premium selection of ports — including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, an SD card slot, and MagSafe 3 charging. Available in Space Black and Silver, the laptop’s overall look remains sleek and minimalist, emphasising refinement over reinvention.

The new MacBook Pro launches alongside macOS Tahoe, optimised for the M5’s capabilities. Apple Intelligence brings smarter system features, including contextual text generation, improved Spotlight Search, live translation in FaceTime, and automation across apps — all powered locally for better privacy and responsiveness.
