Majority of Qualcomm's chipsets will come with 5G capabilities starting next year

Qualcomm announced during IFA 2019, that majority of their Snapdragon chipsets such as the 600, 700 as well as the 800 series is expected to ship with 5G-capabilities starting next year. With that said, there is a high possibility that smartphones releasing next year that are priced under the RM1000 could come with the new 5G modem embedded in the chipset.

Based on a statement by engadget.com, smartphone manufacturers such as OPPO, Realme, Redmi, Vivo, Nokia and more will be adopting the new chipsets for next year’s devices. The 5G-modem will provide download speeds of up to 2.5Gbps, and more than 300Mbps upload speeds according to Qualcomm’s official website. But that’s not all, the new chipsets will also come with features such as mmWave, sub-6GHz spectrum, TDD, FDD, 5G multi-SIM and more.

As of now, there is no official information on the Malaysia release date of the smartphones that will come with the new 5G capable chipset.
