The Minister of Defence now shares that Malaysia is aiming to begin producing its own rockets within about 2 years. This partnership comes as an extension of the collaboration between Weststar Defence Industries Sdn Bhd and Australia Rocket Technologies International, which focuses on aerospace and defence technology. Both parties will focus on collaboration in the development of aerospace technology capabilities.
We might see Malaysia’s very own missiles and ammunition in the future
Apart from producing its own rockets, this collaboration also aims for Malaysia to produce ammunition or missiles in the future. This move is seen as continuing to strengthen Malaysia's position in the aerospace industry, as well as developing the defence ecosystem, strengthening the country's defence capabilities for future generations, and reducing foreign dependence.
Personally, we feel the Malaysian Ministry of Defence is doing the right thing here. After all, a country’s defence and sovereignty should always come first. What are your thoughts on the news? Feel free to leave your comments below. Stay tuned for more news like this at TechNave.com
