The government will establish a Cyber Security Academy to cover more than 26,000 vacancies in the field. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the academy would be placed under the coordination of CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) to meet the needs of a skilled cybersecurity workforce among semiconductor and electronics-based companies.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Chairman of the National TVET Council Committee, said the development of talent in the field of cyber security in Malaysia needs to be improved, especially in a situation where the country is faced with the explosion of digital technology as a catalyst for economic growth. He added:
"This establishment is important because many universities offer the same specialty in terms of accreditation but this academy is a body that coordinates the forms of courses held."
Therefore, he said the establishment of the academy was to develop local workforce expertise in the field of cyber security through a structured capacity and competency enhancement program on an ongoing basis. We have yet to confirm other details on the news. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
