On 31 October 2025, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) carried out a successful raid at Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor. Over 8500 pieces of counterfeit Epson ink products were seized, with an estimated market value of RM800000. This marks the largest Epson counterfeit ink seizure of 2025.

Major Counterfeit Ink Seizure in Klang

The raid followed more than three months of investigations and surveillance targeting an online seller. Authorities identified both the warehouse and the distribution centre involved, which the investigations revealed that the seller, known online as ink-shop-518 / Ink Supermarket, had been distributing fake Epson ink through major e-commerce platforms in Malaysia and the Philippines.

The raid took place at a warehouse belonging to an import–export company responsible for distributing counterfeit ink imported from China. These products used low-quality materials and were sold online at lower prices.

Epson’s Zero-Tolerance Stance on Counterfeit Products

Epson emphasises its strict zero-tolerance policy towards counterfeit goods and continues to collaborate with KPDN to protect consumers. According to an Epson Southeast Asia spokesperson, the seized counterfeit ink was deliberately designed to resemble genuine Epson products but could pose health and hardware risks. Fake ink can contain harmful substances such as heavy metals, solvents and toxic chemicals that may release hazardous fumes during use.

Non-genuine ink is often produced with inferior materials, which can void printer warranties and cause permanent damage, such as clogged printheads and poor print quality. Epson stresses that the widespread circulation of counterfeit ink is also harming legitimate businesses experiencing losses in genuine ink sales.

Epson’s Next Steps and Consumer Advisory

Epson confirms its commitment to support enforcement authorities and safeguard the interests of its customers and authorised sellers. The company strongly encourages consumers to buy genuine ink exclusively from authorised retail partners and official online stores.

Following the Klang raid, Epson is now working with its legal representatives to pursue legal action against the warehouse operator and the import-export company involved in the distribution of the counterfeit products. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
