
Based on the latest ranking of global internet speed charts by Ookla as of April 2026, Malaysia is currently ranked 25th in the list of median mobile internet download speeds, with a record of 154.13 Mbps. So, what should you know about it?
It’s an improvement compared to the previous ranking
For your information, this is an increase of 2 places compared to before; thus, this achievement places Malaysia in the group of countries that show a stable increase in mobile internet services, which sees Malaysia competing closely with developed countries such as Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

Additionally, in the global list, the median fixed broadband download speed in Malaysia recorded a speed of 169.89 Mbps with an upload speed of 66.10 Mbps and a latency of 8 ms, thus placing Malaysia in 46th position, down one place compared to before.
Meanwhile, neighbouring country Singapore ranked first for fixed-line internet speeds, recording a speed of 430.31 Mbps. Overall, the Ookla report shows that Malaysia is strengthening its position in the global internet speed chain, with achievements that have a positive impact on the development of the digital economy, technological innovation, and readiness for the 5G era and industrial automation.
