The Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) has now shared that Malaysia will be the first country in Southeast Asia to have its own rocket launch site, as early as 2029. So, what should you know about it?
Where would they do it?
For your information, this move is seen as in line with the Space Policy 2030. Currently, the proposal involves three proposed locations, involving locations in Pahang, Sarawak and Sabah.
Additionally, the final location has not yet been determined. The feasibility study report has been completed, and is currently in the process of evaluating the report.
If any foreign companies want to collaborate, they need to collaborate with local companies, as well as obtain the approval of the state government. A rocket launch site in Malaysia is expected to provide a number of advantages, including Malaysia's location on the equator.
Moreover, this would allow rocket launches to be conducted with lower fuel costs and more efficiency than other locations around the world. This move is also expected to provide healthy development in the aerospace and engineering arena in Malaysia.
