The Malaysian government has very big plans for MyDigital ID. According to news sources, they are aiming to attract 15 million new MyDigital ID registrations during 2026 as part of a broader effort to deepen adoption of a unified digital identity system nationwide.
Adoption Rate Moving Past Midway Mark
Rita Irina Abd Wahab, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MyDigital ID, said the platform has already surpassed the halfway point toward this year’s goal, with roughly 8.7 million users registered so far. Weekly usage has climbed above 400000 access events, reflecting growing public engagement with the identity service.
Growth in registrations is partly attributed to the integration of MyDigital ID with more than 80 government and private sector apps and portals. By enabling a single sign-on for a range of digital services, the platform aims to become a daily tool for citizens in both public and private service interactions.
MyDigital ID has also broadened its promotional strategies by partnering with e-hailing drivers to spread awareness on the ground, making the platform more visible and accessible in everyday urban environments. This approach is intended to demystify digital identity and build trust among users, particularly in high-mobility communities.
Secure Digital Identity without Replacing MyKad
To recap, the MyDigital ID platform functions as a secure digital login for online services without replacing Malaysia’s national identity card, MyKad. It is designed to enhance convenience and security in online transactions by providing a trusted authentication method for a wide range of digital services.
For context on MyDigital ID’s development and adoption in Malaysia, the platform has been gradually integrated into numerous services and continues expanding its footprint across digital government and private applications. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
