Based on Opensignal's latest report released today, Malaysia has seen an impressive increase in average download speeds, a result of the government's commitment to improving digital infrastructure and the overall mobile user experience. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, Opensignal revealed that Malaysia ranks second in the list of 5G download speed experiences in the Asia Pacific region. With a download speed as fast as 295.5Mbps, Malaysia was overtaken by South Korea which recorded the fastest 5G download speed of 427.5Mbps.

In addition, South Korea recorded the fastest upload speed in the region at a speed of 52.2Mbps. Malaysia is ranked 3rd below Taiwan with a speed of 34.4Mbps. Opensignal in its comments regarding Malaysia stated, this achievement was achieved through Malaysia's wholesale 5G network where 5G Availability is in the top five for the Asia Pacific (APAC) market at 31.8%.

Moreover, Opensignal said India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia have seen the biggest speed increases between 4G and 5G. Although Sri Lanka's 4G to 5G upgrade for download speeds is much higher than Malaysia, less than 2% of devices there are 5G capable while over 37% of Malaysia's total connections are 5G connections.
