Today, our Minister of Finance, Datuk Tengku Zafrul Aziz told the media that MyDIGITAL will oversee the cashless payment to be made for all government services. The government is targetting by the year 2022 and it will be part of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 path.

At the Malaysian Institute of Accountants Conference 2021 today, he said that 60% of government services were paid online in 2020. Since the government is already pushing towards a digital lifestyle, the cashless payment will have higher transactional security, better coordination, enhanced communications on anti-corruption initiatives, and greater ease of sharing information.

So far, Tengku Zafrul said that electronic identification cards and biometric proof of identity are prioritised to ensure inclusiveness, accessibility, transparency and accountability. By modernising public service delivery and curbing corruption, it will also reduce direct contact points between the citizens and public officials.

Application and payments for Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat and Geran Khas Prihatin were done online already. On top of that, he also appreciates the MIA's advocacy of tax governance and its Digital Technology blueprint. But what do you think of this?
