Samsung Malaysia Electronics launched the arrival of Malaysia's first Samsung Onyx Cinema LED screen at Golden Screen Cinemas Mid Valley Megamall today. Featuring a 33.8 feet wide and 16.4 feet high Onyx LED screen with Samsung Audio Lab and JBL by HARMAN Professional Solutions speakers, the screen delivers up to 4K resolution video with the world's first Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI)-compliant High Dynamic Range which can achieve peak brightness levels of 146fl. In short, the screen delivers the most pristine whites and the deepest of blacks with a nearly infinite contrast ratio.
Located in Hall 11 of Golden Screen Cinemas Mid Valley Megamall, the hall offers plush eco-leather seats with the first movie to be shown being Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Tickets will only be an additional RM1.50 on top of the usual ticket price.
In our initial experience we have to say that the Onyx Cinema LED screen looks great even with the lights on. While there's no Dolby, the sound is powerful enough to feel through your feet. Honestly, I can't help but wonder how it might perform with a 4K or 2K gaming tournament.
