Today, the police forces from the Unit Rondaan Bermotosikal (URB, aka the Motorcycle Patrol Unit) and the Unit Kereta Peronda (MPV, Patrol Car Unit) just became the first front line officers to use a brand new body camera. The device will be attached to their shoulders when they go out to perform their duties.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the Director of the Logistics and Technology Department (JLog), CP Dato 'Seri Sahabudin Abd. Manan told the media that the device usage application has already been approved by the technical committee for the procurement of body cameras. That said, the quantity of body cameras obtained depends on the tender process that will be handled by the Home Ministry (KDN).

Additionally, the use of body cameras is implemented to deal with corruption and corrupt activities among the uniformed forces, especially frontline personnel such as at the immigration section. Since last May, the PDRM has been seeking the KDN to quickly approve the tender so that the devices can be used by the frontliners in their respective fields.

Currently, the tech specs of the body camera are unknown so we don't know how much is the megapixel nor the memory storage for keeping the recordings. But what do you think of this device? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
