The Malaysian Parliament is aiming to become the world’s first legislative house to run on renewable energy. Targeting a June 2024 operation, Parliament will incorporate the use of solar energy in its effort towards a more sustainable future.
As reported by Bernama, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul asserted that this initiative is in line with the government target of zero net emission by 2050. Currently, the Public Work Department is finishing up the tendering process for the project.
Johari added that he hoped the initiative would be a signal to other government departments and agencies to participate in efforts to use renewable energy as it is not just environmentally friendly but cheaper too.
