In conjunction with the 2025 Chinese New Year festive season, the Malaysian government has agreed to provide a 50% toll discount from the normal rate. This will apply to all Class 1 (private) vehicles on 27 and 28 January 2025.

This was officially stated by Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi as reported by Bernama in its tweet post. The toll reduction will begin at 12.01 midnight on Jan 27 (Monday) and will end at 11.59 pm, on Jan 28 (Tuesday) with an allocation of compensation payments to the toll concession companies involved estimated at RM20.08 million.

The decision to reduce the toll was agreed at a Cabinet Meeting today. It will be implemented at all toll plazas, except at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Toll Plaza on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Route Expressway (LINKEDUA).

Alexander said the toll discount is in line with the MADANI Government’s agenda in safeguarding the unity and well-being of the people. It is also a continuation of the festive season toll assistance that has been provided by the MADANI Government for the four major festive seasons in the Peninsula since 2023.

To date, the government has spent RM356.18 million as compensation for the implementation of the Free Festive Season Toll assistance from 2023 to 2024. Highway users can also contact the LLM Traffic Management Centre at 1-800-88-7752 to get the latest traffic information or assistance.
