A minister in Malaysia reminded the public to check their MyKad to ensure the chip is working properly. So, what should you know about it?

Your MyKAD chip needs to be in a good condition

For your information, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said targeted subsidies for petrol prices can only be enjoyed when MyKad is used as identity verification when refuelling.

"If the chip is damaged or cannot be read, don't worry. You can go directly to any National Registration Department (JPN) office or counter nationwide. God willing, it will be ready the same day. Easy and fast."

In the same post, Saifuddin Nasution said the price of RON95 petrol is expected to drop to RM1.99 per litre by the end of this month through the re-targeting of targeted subsidies. This move is in line with the announcement by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 23.
