The Ministry of Health (MOH) today announced that beginning today (20 March 2023), you can book a government dental clinic appointment slot via the MySejahtera app. Implemented in phases, the appointment system would be available at all government dental clinics in Melaka and Penang in phase 1.

Meanwhile, phase 2 will commence in May 2023, whereby the appointment system would be expanded to all government dental clinics nationwide. In a Facebook post, MOH asserted that the new MySejahtera appointment system would help decrease waiting times for patients getting dental services at health or dental clinics.

In order to book a dental appointment, all you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Browse and log in to the MySejahtera application via smartphone
  • Click the [Appointment] icon on the main page of the MySejahtera application
  • Select the name of the individual who wants to attend the clinic
  • Select a service
  • Select the location of the Health Clinic/Dental Clinic
  • Choose an appointment time slot that is still available
  • Confirm your details and all the information listed
  • Press the [Send] button

Afterwards, your appointment slot would be reserved. MOH advises customers to make sure to attend according to the appointment time designated.

Do note that you can only book an appointment for a dental health checkup. At the first appointment, you will be given appropriate dental treatment after examination and if follow-up treatment is required, the dental clinic will give the next appointment.

Moreover, you don’t need to book an appointment for a dental emergency. Instead, you can directly go to your nearest dental clinic without making a reservation. The below are considered dental emergencies by MOH:

  • Toothache
  • Swollen and suppurating gums
  • Swelling of the face and neck
  • Complications after extraction
  • Nerve pain on the side of the face (Trigeminal Neuralgia)
  • Dental trauma/injury
  • Tooth coming out of the socket (avulsion)
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Other identified facial injuries
  • Lesions and tumours of unknown cause
  • Broken teeth/fillings causing wounds and pain
  • Broken dentures
  • Dislodged/loose orthodontic bracket
