China is turning into a cashless society as most of the transactions are paid with the e-wallet system such as Alipay and WeChat Pay. Although it makes daily transactions more convenient to the locals, it does give pain to the tourists in the country. Thankfully, there’s a new Tour Pass that lets you add funds from an international credit or debit card within Alipay now.

The mini-program can be found by searching Tour Pass in the App. When users open it up, they will have the options to top-up a digital prepaid card from the Bank of Shanghai. But first, you will need to set up an account for it. Users need to submit their passport number, upload a valid Chinese visa and phone number.

After you’re done setting everything up, you can top-up money to the Tour Pass with a minimum amount of 100 yuan(~RM60) and a maximum capped amount of 2,000 yuan(~RM1,182). While paying in the country is much easier for the tourist now, but the Tour Pass does not grant access on the full functions in the app. Transferring money from Tour Pass to other Alipay users is still unavailable with Tour Pass.

Although you don’t have the full functions of the App but with the Tour Pass, paying for meals and shopping in the country is no longer an issue for the tourists. That’s a big relief for those who plan to travel to China.
